Important things you should know

  • If you die in the first year of your plan, your family may only get what you've paid in.
  • Your cover amount is fixed when your plan starts and doesn't change.  It wont keep up with inflation and will buy less in the future.
  • If you cancel your plan, your cover stops you won't get back any premiums you've paid.
  • Premiums paid might be more than the cash sum paid when you die.
  • Payment normally goes to your estate.  Inheritance tax could apply to the part that's worth over £325,000 (tax year 2010/2011).  The amount depends on your circumstances.
  • Cover continues for free when you're 90.
