Celebrating 160 years
This year, we’re celebrating 160 years of the Marsden. Founded in Nelson, Lancashire in 1860, by a group of local businessmen, our goal was to build something better for the community. As we’ve grown, many things have changed, but our goal has stayed the same. That’s why, as Lancashire’s largest building society, we continue to support our members to this day with savings, mortgages and more.
Why being a mutual matters
Being a mutual means we’re owned by our members, run for their benefit and not for shareholders, which is why we always strive to deliver the best products and customer service possible. We’re strong – growing and attracting new members every day. Trusted by you for generations, we’re here to help you plan your financial future.
