Our 55+ Retirement Mortgages are just like a conventional mortgage; however, they are available to applicants aged 55 to 85. Available on an interest only or repayment basis, they could be right for those looking to purchase a new home, remortgage, or release funds from their property for many reasons, such as helping children onto the property ladder or funding home improvements.
Could I be eligible for a 55+ Retirement Mortgage?
If you or your partner are aged 55 or over, you could be eligible for a 55+ Retirement Mortgage. You’ll need to be able to afford the monthly repayments, and if you’re looking for an interest only deal, you’ll need to have a plan in place to repay the capital at the end of your term, but as a guide, you could be eligible if;
– You’re looking to borrow at least £30,000
– Your property is worth at least £150,000
– You want to borrow a maximum of 60% of your property value
– You have an annual income of at least £17,500 (whether you’re applying on your own, or jointly)
– You are a resident of England or Wales
