Sharing the same ambition to widen the choice of mortgages available in Guernsey, 2018 marked the beginning of our partnership with SPF Private Clients.

SPF’s team of experienced advisers are always on hand to support you and answer any questions you may have. However, we’ve answered some frequently asked questions below!

Who are SPF Private Clients?

SPF are the largest and longest running mortgage broker in Guernsey. Their highly dedicated team has a reputation for providing professional, tailored financial advice and building relationships based on trust.

We became partners with SPF over 3 years ago, and combined, we’ve got over 180 years’ experience in helping people to own their own home!

What mortgages do you offer?

In addition to our Residential mortgages which may be suitable for those looking to purchase or remortgage a property, we offer a range of products tailored to those with different circumstances.

For example, our Retirement mortgages are specifically designed for applicants aged 55 to 85 and may be suitable if you’re looking borrow or release funds from your property during retirement, while our Expat Residential and Expat Buy to Let mortgages are available to Guernsey residents residing overseas, hoping to purchase a home or buy to let property within the UK.

Do I need to be a Guernsey citizen to purchase a property on the island?

No; the properties in Guernsey are split into two categories. While ‘Local Market’ properties (approximately 27,000 properties*) are primarily reserved for those with an automatic right to live in Guernsey, you may be eligible for ‘Open Market’ properties (approximately 1,600 properties*) which are available to those who aren’t citizens but wish to reside on the island; however, these are usually more expensive and could be restricted to a maximum LTV of 50%.

How do I find out more?

In addition to answering any questions you may have, SPF are able to guide you through our full range of mortgages and recommend the product that’s right for you.

If you’d like to get in touch, please visit our ‘Contact SPF’ page, or alternatively, you can find out more about our product range on our dedicated ‘Mortgages’ page.
