This year we’re celebrating 160 years since we were founded, and although it isn’t the celebratory year we had planned, we’re pleased to say that we’re now opening new savings accounts in branch so we can help even more customers save for the future.
Having temporarily switched to remote account opening during the peak of lockdown, with branches open for essential transactions only, the move back to new account openings, face-to-face where possible, has been welcomed.
Philippa Farebrother-Dunn, Head of Retail at the Marsden, said “During lockdown, our main priority was supporting customers who needed us for essential transactions. Whether assisting them in branch or helping them to manage their money from the safety of their own home, we’re pleased to have been able to support so many during what was a difficult time for all.
“Now, we’re pleased to be able to support even more customers with new savings accounts that can be opened in branch by appointment only.”
The return to new account opening means more customers, old and new, can take advantage of our range of savings products, and although the account opening process looks a little different, you’ll still receive the same great Marsden customer service.
“To support social distancing in our branches and to keep you safe, we’ve changed the way we’re opening savings accounts,” added Philippa. “Customers who want to open an account will need to arrange a telephone appointment first.
“On the telephone appointment, we’ll take you through the range of products available and the terms and conditions of the product you’re interested in. We’ll then collect some information from you and carry out an identification check.
“To finalise the account opening, we’ll ask you to book an appointment in branch, where we’ll finish off your application and carry out the final steps to get your new account up and running.
“If customers cannot get into branch for any reason, for example, local lockdown restrictions, we can still support with remote account opening.”
You can view the range of savings accounts currently available on our ‘Savings‘ page, or if you’d like to contact your local branch about making a telephone appointment, you can find their details on our ‘Find a branch‘ page.
