A great way to help some very worthy causes, Affinity savings accounts have been popular with our members since they launched in 2007, and over the years, we’ve raised almost half a million pounds to help support them. Although we’re not opening new Affinity accounts at the moment, we wanted to share how much we’ve donated this year to our Affinity partners on your behalf.
Who are our Affinity partners?
We support charities across the region, and our Affinity partners currently include Pendleside Hospice, North West Air Ambulance, Burnley Football Club in the Community and Sight Advice South Lakes.
Based in Burnley, Pendleside Hospice provides free-of-charge care and support for those with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers. The cost of running this essential service is almost £4 million each year, with the majority of funds raised locally.
Founded in 1999, the North West Air Ambulance service takes advanced healthcare to the scene; reaching, treating and transferring patients to hospital as quickly as possible. Funded by the generosity of the public, they are called out to over 2,000 emergencies in the region each year.
From children and young people, through to senior citizens, Burnley FC in the Community support 5 key areas: Sport, Education, Health, Social Inclusion and Community Facilities. Delivering community projects that touch the lives of a huge spectrum of people in and around Burnley, every penny raised goes to creating new opportunities for those who need it most.
Sight Advice was formed in 1956 and provides a variety of services to support visually impaired people in the South Lakes areas of Cumbria. An independent local charity, it relies on donations, grants and legacies to maintain its services.
How much has been donated this year?
We’re really pleased to say that this year we’ve supported our Affinity partners with the following donations made on your behalf:
Pendleside Hospice – £9,773.69
North West Air Ambulance – £17,337.83
Burnley Football Club in the Community – £1,539.94
Sight Advice South Lakes – £181.69
Why can’t I open a new Affinity savings account?
To support our branch teams during the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve simplified the range of savings accounts we have to offer. We’re hoping to bring back Affinity accounts soon so you can continue supporting these very worthy causes, but if you’d like to see our current range of products, you can do so on our ‘Savings’ page.
