About the Marsden
Since we were founded in 1860, we’ve supported our members with savings, mortgages and more… But there’s more to the Marsden than just our products.
This section includes everything you need to get to know us a little better, from a timeline of our heritage to what our colleagues say it’s like to work for us. As Lancashire’s largest building society, we attract new members each day, and if you’re thinking of joining us – we look forward to getting to know you too.

What does it mean to be a member?
As a mutual, we’re owned by our members, run for your benefit and not for shareholders, which is why we always aim to deliver the best products and customer service possible. Being a member means you have a say in how we’re run by taking part in our AGM, voting on resolutions and putting your questions to our Board of Directors.

An award-winning building society
Over the years we’ve won several awards, including Highly Commended for ‘Best Employee Support Strategy During a Crisis’ in the 2021 Engage Awards for the support we provided to colleagues over the course of the pandemic.
